ABOUT SKYBLUE
SkyBlue with Daisies ~ Erica Lubee
Erica Lubee~SkyBlue creates her folksy-art out of her Connecticut home studio… fondly named Little Orange Studio. Surrounded by the orange walls her artist dad helped her paint, and a ridiculous pile of art supplies, she can spend hours splashing paint and glue in hopes of transforming life’s chaos and pain into layers of peace, hope and whimsy. Becoming SkyBlue when she creates, is how she tries to put aside fears and self-criticism that can sometimes creep in to stop creation in it’s tracks.
She wandered far from the artistic path that called her in her youth, but recently found her way back as she realized the healing powers of a pencil and paintbrush. She started developing her whimsical portraits and illustrations of girls, women and feminine creatures as a way to fight the emotional turmoil of illness that threatened her life and feminine identity. Her portrait illustrations are feminine and strong, awkward and lovely, kind-hearted and a little dark, magical and mysterious, flawed and full empathy.
SkyBlue’s paintings are mostly done with acrylics and layers of papers, old pages and other paintings. She loves to create pencil illustrations and hopes to illustrate a book one day. Sometimes she makes animals, abstract and food art, but the feminine imagery is what speaks to her heart. Daisies find their way into most everything she makes because, well… they are her spirit-animal.. and she believes they can increase serotonin (although this has not yet been scientifically proven).
She has until now kept a majority of her work in her home, sketchbooks, and her quiet little corners of the web. She hopes by putting some of them out into the universe, she will make someone smile, give someone strength, and bring daisies wherever they are needed most.
I just want to add some daisies and sunshine to everyone’s day.
Thank you for visiting! Erica~SkyBlue

OMG! I LOVE YOU! I want to come home to NYC. Need a roomie? If not, where in the holy HELL is your FOLLOW and TWEET button????
Hi Janice, you are so sweet. i love your artwork, and will have to spend more time wandering your blog site. i live in boring suburbs of CT, wish i could say i lived in the city… just love to visit whenever i can. I haven’t the foggiest idea how to tweet. (-:
Oh duh. I am a still a spastic New Yawker. I found them. Thank YOU for finding ME. LOVE your way. ❤
ANd hmmmmm not to be creepy, but why do i get the feeling you like edamame with Himalayan pink salt, WILCO, sushi nori in miso soup, mountain biking over the Brooklyn Bridge, BAM, MOMA, and the lower East SIde? MANNNNN I am homesick. Especially for 14th Street/Union Square. My last apt was on 175 Third Ave — corner of third and 17th. I am DYING here.
wow… i am so not as hip as all this… but i did just youtube Wilco, and I’m sure I could love them. I do have a thing for Cat Stevens music. The salt, absolutely, and I tried edamame actually during my last trip to Brooklyn for the first time… dying to spend an entire day at BAM… have only been there for brief visits. I hope you are enjoying life as much as possible in Ohio, although i can imagine you must miss NY very much. thanks for visiting me! See you in the city sometime. (-:
Thank you for following me! My blog is still very new! I love your “about” page! Can’t wait to read more!
